Paula is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Art Therapist and Child Mental Health Specialist. Paula received her under-graduate degree at Western Washington University, majoring in both psychology and biology. She received her Masters in clinical psychology, child, couple and family therapy at Antioch University, Seattle, where she also received her training as an art therapist. Paula has trained extensively in childhood neurodevelopmental issues, attachment, parent/child interactional therapies including DIR/Floortime.
Paula has extensive experience working with children, adults and families impacted by trauma, disabilities and mild, moderate and severe mental illness. She specializes in trauma treatment, attachment difficulties (both child and adult), anxiety and depressive disorders. She utilizes several approaches, including CBT, DBT, Mindfulness and psychotherapy. She is also a Child Mental Health Specialist. She has been honored in advocating for a better quality of life for individuals and families.
Paula also has extensive experience in couples therapy, including sexual issues and divorce counseling, especially where children are involved.
Paula has worked among many populations: Native Americans, Cuban Americans, African Americans, Latin Americans, and many immigrant populations. Paula has contributed to legislative change and programs benefiting individuals with disabilities. She has touched many people with her healing abilities.
Paula is also an accomplished and published artist and poet. Her favorite medias are oils and ceramics. As an Art Therapist, she uses the magical power of the image to heal and communicate.
