Meet Our Clinicians & Staff
Paula is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Art Therapist and Child Mental Health Specialist. Paula received her under-graduate degree at Western Washington University, majoring in both psychology and biology. She received her Masters in clinical psychology, child, couple and family therapy at Antioch University, Seattle, where she also received her training as an art therapist. Paula has trained extensively in childhood neurodevelopmental issues, attachment, parent/child interactional therapies including DIR/Floortime.

Paula has extensive experience working with children, adults and families impacted by trauma, disabilities and mild, moderate and severe mental illness. She specializes in trauma treatment, attachment difficulties (both child and adult), anxiety and depressive disorders. She utilizes several approaches, including CBT, DBT, Mindfulness and psychotherapy. She is also a Child Mental Health Specialist. She has been honored in advocating for a better quality of life for individuals and families. 

Paula also has extensive experience in couples therapy, including sexual issues and divorce counseling, especially where children are involved.

Paula has worked among many populations: Native Americans, Cuban Americans, African Americans, Latin Americans, and many immigrant populations. Paula has contributed to legislative change and programs benefiting individuals with disabilities.  She has touched many people with her healing abilities. 

Paula is also an accomplished and published artist and poet. Her favorite medias are oils and ceramics. As an Art Therapist, she uses the magical power of the image to heal and communicate.

Nathanael W. Cardon, D.O. is a board certified general psychiatrist trained to diagnose and treat mental illness. He attended medical school at Western University of Health Sciences where he received his doctorate in osteopathic medicine. Dr. Cardon completed his internship and residency at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Dr. Cardon treats adult patients and he has completed specialty training to include adolescents and children. It is Dr. Cardon's goal to be available for his patients behavioral and mental health needs. He follows the philosophy that each person he treats has the potential to feel better in order to live a unique, dynamic, and valuable life.

Nathanael Cardon, D.O.

Bridgett Pogline is Dr. Nathanael Cardon's right-hand person. She has her Associate's Degree and is a Certified Medical Assistant. Bridgett was raised in Arkansas and moved to Washington after her husband retired from the military seven years ago. She has worked in the medical industry for roughly 15 years and brings a host of experience to Island Behavioral Medicine. 

Bridgett is extremely personable, warm-hearted, and truly puts patient care and customer service above all else. When not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her children and family.

Amy Martella grew up in Reno, Nevada where she lived until 2012 when her husband was stationed in the Pacific Northwest. Amy is currently working towards becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, which has been a lifelong goal of hers. She has a strong desire to help others and has a special interest in working with military families as she understands the unique struggles that they face.  

Amy is a student member of the American Associate for Marriage and Family Therapists, Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic & Professional Honor Society International and Delta Kappa International Marriage and Family Therapy Honor Society.

Elisa Stone is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA). She earned her Masters degree at City University of Seattle in Counseling Psychology and earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa in Health and Wellness. Elisa believes in the mind, body, spirit and soul connection. It is her goal to foster a therapeutic relationship of trust and compassion and to create a "safe container" for your growth to occur.

Elisa's intention is to help you to find peace, wholeness and well being in every aspect of your life. Her approach is Person-Centered and Mindfulness based and fosters caring, empathy and understanding. Her approach also promotes an acceptance of who you are and she meets you where you are at in your life's journey.

Elisa's specialty is assisting you to cross the various bridges in your life's journey, such as from young adulthood to adulthood, exploring your sexual identity, navigating relationships, making career choices, overcoming mental health challenges, assisting famili​es when a loved one is in crisis, and other life issues.

Charlotte is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker whose focus is on client-centered therapy. Clients can expect an understanding, supportive and comfortable environment where problems are explored collaboratively, and realistic goals are set together.

Charlotte has experience working with couples, families, and individuals with diverse backgrounds of all ages seeking relief from family life cycle transitions, parenting struggles, infidelity, communication issues, anxiety, depression, anger, among other life challenges.

Some of her background includes working with complex trauma (sexual assault and domestic violence), historical trauma (Alaska Natives and refugees), active-duty sailors and their dependents and chronic illnesses (dialysis and kidney transplant patients).

Clients report that it is easy for them to share their personal struggles with her as she provides a nurturing, non-judgmental environment. She received a Master of Social Work Degree from Boise State University. Charlotte’s career has taken her from Boise, Idaho, to Nome, Alaska, and now Oak Harbor, Washington.

Katrina brings experience and empathy to the front office with her out-of-the box thinking and problem solving skills. She can acclimate to almost every situation thrown her way, while being optimistic. Katrina has a Medical Assisting Diploma and is in the process of becoming Certified. Katrina's love for helping others has driven her to take this career path. She is an experienced scheduler and front office receptionist. Katrina has assisted in setting up behavioral health companies in the past, with the hope that the community can gain a valuable resource. With six years experience in the Medical Field, and a passion for helping others, Katrina gets the ability to watch not only her family, but other families reach their full potential.

Katrina has 3 children, who are very proactive in school activities. Her oldest Daughter aspires to become a Mechanical Engineer, and the other two are in the process of setting their future goals. Any chance Katrina gets, she is there cheering her kids on.

Karen Meganck, LMFT, CMHS

Karen's bio is to come. Karen brings many years professional experience working with families, children, military and families. We are proud to have Karen join Island Behavioral Medicine.

Debra McCune
Office Manager
Debra brings 15 years experience in healthcare with a diverse and well-rounded background. Debra is a Certified Administrative Medical Specialist with training in Medical Billing and Coding and Medical Terminology from Central WA University. She is also a Certified Executive Assistant.

Debra has lived on Whidbey Island for 10 years. She has family here. She is a mother to a beautiful daughter and a precious granddaughter. She has three large older dogs who she enjoys walking, taking swimming and playing with. Debra enjoys technology, playing piano, vegetarian cooking.

Debra has worked the front desk and also behind the scenes but very much enjoys being out front and being able to get to know our patrons and serving them on a regular basis. She enjoys being a help to others and is passionate about life. Debra is happy to be part of such a dedicated, professional and caring team here at Island Behavioral Medicine.
